SpotOn Fence: Built for the Modern Military Family

For military families, frequent relocation is a common reality. This presents unique challenges, especially for pet owners who rely on traditional or underground dog fences that require installation, making them impractical for families on the move. Even after service members transition to civilian or part-time roles, the typical veteran family often has a full life and busy routine. That’s where SpotOn comes in: an easy-to-use, GPS-powered, portable dog fence system that works anywhere and requires no installation.

Honoring Veteran Families and their Dog

Military Makeover airing on Lifetime TV offers hope and a helping hand to change the living situation – and the lives – of deserving military families. When SpotOn learned about its mission, we couldn’t wait to collaborate and gift a GPS dog fence system as part of a broader home renovation project, and the Mahaley family was a perfect fit! With their rescue dog, Sprinkles, being an integral part of the family, the SpotOn GPS fence system provides them with a secure and flexible way to manage their property while giving Sprinkles more freedom and enjoyment in their backyard.

The Mahaley Family

Benjamin and Melissa Mahaley are veterans of the U.S. Marine Corps, having met while stationed in Okinawa, Japan. Their service took them across the globe, where they experienced the harsh realities of combat and the sacrifices inherent to military life. Despite the physical and emotional toll, Benjamin and Melissa never wavered in their commitment and love for their country. Benjamin was even awarded several honors during his active duty service, including the USMC Good Conduct Medal and the Iraq Campaign Medal.

When transitioning into civilian careers, both Benjamin and Melissa naturally gravitated toward pathways that put service at the center. Today, Benjamin works as a firefighter while Melissa is a nurse. They’re also proud parents raising five children—Easton, Ryder, Lyla, Zoey, and Kira—and their rescue dog, Sprinkles, completes their family.

Like many veterans, Benjamin and Melissa carry physical and emotional wounds that impact their daily lives. Their ability to make such a positive impact in their communities while they balance their essential roles at home and on the job caught the attention of the Makeover team and, in turn, connected them to SpotOn Fence.
