No More FOMO for this Golden Retriever: Myla's Story
Meet Myla Grace, a loveable Golden Retriever from Duncansville, Pennsylvania!
This 7-month-old pupper listens well, considering how young she is… but she is an overly friendly goofball at heart! All dogs have their moments of weakness, and in Myla’s case, her weakness is her love of people. Myla’s love extends to everyone, not just her family; whenever someone pulls into the driveway, walks past the house, or even so much as comes near her, Myla has a hard time not running to them to be petted.
A municipal building was recently built directly across the street from their home, and people visit the building all day long! Of course, Myla wants to say hi to every visitor and thinks they wanted to pet her. Though this may very well be true, the added traffic from the building had her family concerned.
Based on past experience, Myla's family knew a buried wire fence was not going to cut it.
With plenty of temptation around, it was important for Myla's family to make sure their furry family member was safely contained in the yard. With their previous dog, Riley, the family tried a buried wire fence that they dug and placed themselves. However, their yard gets very wet in the spring and the wire ended up breaking, allowing Riley to run right through the containment area.
Knowing that a buried wire fence had failed before and wasn’t going to be the best option for her new pup, Christa went looking for alternatives and was very interested to learn about SpotOn. With SpotOn’s custom mapping feature, she was able to set her fence a little back from the street so Myla can safely watch everyone going in and out. The custom mapping feature also allowed Christa to limit Myla’s access to the muddy parts of their backyard—no more rolling around in mud puddles for this mischievous pooch!
With SpotOn, Myla is able to stay safe while also having the space and freedom to let her energy out and simply enjoy being a dog. Now that she has learned her boundaries, she spends a good portion of her day sitting in the grass, birdwatching. She also likes to dig holes (she can dig a giant hole in a matter of minutes!), collect sticks, and say hi to the neighbor dog and cat.

SpotOn has been great solution for adventuring at home and on the road.
There is so much adventure in their own backyard, but now that she’s trained to a system that can be taken anywhere, Myla has many new and exciting things to look forward to this summer. She has already been on one camping trip this year; the family tried Getaway Camping in Ohio and she had a blast! They often camp at State Parks and have a local private campground that they enjoy. Myla never has to miss out on any fun anymore - safely exploring the wilderness with her family and taking up every opportunity to swim in lakes and ponds on their hikes and camping trips."Myla never has to miss out on any fun anymore - safely exploring the wilderness with her family and taking up every opportunity to swim in lakes and ponds on their hikes and camping trips."
